David Laribee's Managing Technical Debt Workshop (TECHNICAL-DEBT-01-01)
CODE: TECHNICAL-DEBT-01-01          DURATION: 1 DAY/S
Technical debt is a real drag on productivity and every team suffers from it. The good news is that this debt can be paid back over time and managed when a team is willing to put a system in place. This workshop demonstrates how to build a system for managing and reducing debt using a Lean/Agile process.

Participants will also leave with a full toolkit of techniques for fixing debt. Demonstrations are provided in a mix of .NET, Java and Ruby.

LEARN HOW TO:
  • Identify the highest interest debt, the real productivity killers.
  • Present your managers and customers with a rock solid case for fixing debt.
  • Build consensus in your team on opportunities for improvement.
  • Simplify complicated code. Confidently change error-prone code.
  • Use an Agile process and software metrics to sustain improvement.
