Tomcat Whizz: Advanced Tomcat Administration is a two day, intensive course that is designed as a follow up course to the Apache Tomcat Fundamentals. It is taught by one of the core developers of Apache Tomcat and focuses on advanced Tomcat 5.5 and 6.0 configurations, tuning and troubleshooting.
You are expected to have a good understanding of the Apache Tomcat fundamentals.
You will study advanced Apache Tomcat configuration, tuning and troubleshooting, including advanced tuning of Apache Tomcat, the Java Virtual Machine, whether to apply load balancing or not, and how to maximize the performance and stability of Apache Tomcat in production environments.
Troubleshooting is targeted to administrators working in production environments, and you will learn how to perform the correct steps during the troubleshooting phase. The course will demonstrate this with real world examples from production issues, and how to take corrective action.
You will also investigate integration points within Apache Tomcat, including the different types of Web Server connectors, with and without load balancing.
The course also outlines the core of the Apache Tomcat architecture, how to compile and patch your own installation, and how to write your own Tomcat components.
