DevDay program has two tracks: Business and Developer. The developer track is for software developers interested in "code" and would like tips and tricks on app development. There are also two workshops in the afternoon to choose from: one for new developers and an advanced workshop on iPad Development, subject to the release of the Apple NDA. If the NDA is not released, the workshop will be on Core Data.

The Business Track is for web development and design, entrepreuneurs and marketing enthusiasts and this track dives into the design, development stages, features and process of creating successful applications for the iPhone along with Case Stories on how Starbucks, TagHeuer, Stanza and Deutsche Bank. We will end the day with an insightful afternoon workshop provided by Raven Zachary which dives into the steps involved in taking an application from concept to reality.

Morning Keynote:

Presentation: iPhone Intelligence: Everything you need to know about launching an iPhone App
Speaker: Raven Zachary
iPhone development is a rapidly growing field, with tens of thousands of apps able to run on tens of millions of devices. While coding is perhaps the bulk of the work, it is by no means the only effort required to successfully launch an iPhone application. User experience, design, testing, marketing, and customer service are all critical aspects of the iPhone application development process.

In this session, you will learn about the process of launching an iPhone application, focused on all the steps outside of the actual coding effort itself. Raven will also cover Apple's submission process, best practices in app marketing, design tips, and user participation.

Developer Track:

Presentation: Ten Commandments for iPhone Development
Speaker: Adrian Kosmaczewski
Adrian will show you 10 do's and dont's about iPhone software development, taken directly from his own experience, which will help you identify and solve potential problems in your own projects.

Presentation: Core Animation on the iPhone Speaker: Daniel Steinberg Loving your iPhone? Ever wonder how they do that beautiful animated UI? Of course! Developers love to take stuff apart and see how it works. Come to this talk and see how animation works on the iPhone. Core Animation is the tech behind these animated UI's. In this talk we will cover the big picture of how Core Animation works and then look at some code to see how to build your own elegantly animating user interfaces for the iPhone.

Two Afternoon Developer Workshops:

Developer Workshop Basic: Build an App from Scratch
Speaker: Adrian Kosmaczewski
Building a Scrum backlog application on the iPhone from scratch. The tutorial will take you through installing Xcode and the iPhone SDK on a Mac, setting up the programming environment. You will learn how to initiate a project, read and write Objective-C code, and and will take you through the following phases: Building the UI, Building the logic of the application, Connecting the logic and the UI, Test the application in the simulator, Deploy the application on the iPhone with provisioning profiles, Test, debug and optimize the application and Prepare the application for submission to the App Store. Prerequisites: - Have a Mac laptop running Leopard or Snow Leopard; - Be prepared to write some Objective-C code

Developer Workshop Advanced: Core Data
Speaker: Daniel Steinberg
Core Data is a very powerful abstraction over the SQLite relational database engine. If your application has data then you should be looking at Core Data. You will leave this talk with an understanding of how Core Data works, when you would want to use it (and even when you would not). We will cover all the way from modeling your domain with the Core Data tools to getting your data onto the screen in a table view. We will also cover how to solve some interesting problems like downloading data from a webservice and storing the data into a Core Data database.

Business Track:

Presentation: iPhone Applications for the Enterprise: Deutsche Bank
Speaker: Sumit Rai
Most iPhone applications are aimed at the consumer market however the iPhone is the ideal device for business use and custom application development. In this session you will get an inside track on the development of iPhone application for Deutsche Bank. Sumit will pay particular attention to external data sources, security and managing the roll out. This session will also touch on the use of advanced technologies such as Open GL and data streaming.

Presentation: Case Studies
Speakers: Neelan Choksi, KC MacLaren and Frederik Layani
This session will cover three different perspectives on how an iPhone application projects came to life. As CEO and Entrepreuer, Neelan Choksi started Lexcycle and built a worldwide community for the Stanza e-book reader and soon after it's inception, Lexcycle was acquired by Amazon. KC MacLaren, led the design and development team behind the myStarbucks application: a leading iPhone retail application that has provided new marketing opportunities for the world's largest coffee company. Frederic Layani from Tag Heuer led the strategy behind the company's Monaco C4 app creating a mobile brand campaign for a new product offering in the luxury goods sector. These three speakers will provide their personal experiences of taking an application from concept to market.

Afternoon Workshop: Steps in Building Great iPhone Apps
Raven Zachary
Do you have a great idea for an iPhone app with no idea how to make it a reality? In this half-day workshop, iPhone expert Raven Zachary will walk you through the process of bringing your iPhone application to market - from the initial concept all the way through launch. This workshop does not cover iPhone programming. It will appeal to anyone with a good app idea, whether you're an entrepreneur, web designer, developer, or just a passionate iPhone user. Topics will include the writing of an application definition statement, understanding your target audience, creating a product specification, hiring a team, following a process-oriented approach, navigating the app submission process, and marketing.
