DROIDCON LONDON 2009 02-12-09
Skills Matter is pleased to organise droidcon London 2009 taking place in London on 2nd December - the UK's first community event aimed at grassroots Android developers!
The event moves to London, following the world's first droidcon, which took place in Berlin on 3-4th November.
The aim of droidcon is to bring together the Android development community in an informal environment where they can share ideas, demo new apps, talk to the experts and generally have lots of Android-related fun.
Registration
To event aims to provide a real opportunity to share ideas, learn and discuss, so we have limited the number of delegates to 125 only.
Kevin and Carl from Novoda have kindly agreed to work with Skills Matter on the programme for this conference. Kevin and Carl are also the leaders of the London Android User Group which meets at Skills Matter on every 3rd Thursday of the month.

  Andreas Reuterberg & Alex Shaw: Andreas and Alex will discuss the realities and possibilities for the world of mobile music and audio creation on Android. They will share their own practical experience with realtime DSP, interface design and embedded software to demonstrate the new opportunities given to musicians and programmers by the Android platform. 11:05-11:50 ANDROID BEST PRACTICES AND SCALA
 Akshay Dashrath: This talk describes some “Best Practices” for android development to write code that is maintainable, readable and highly performant. We'll also explore the possibility of implementing Scala as the language of choice while programming for the platform by outlining the advantages and disadvantages of the language with respect to code efficiency, readability and maintainability. Gary Smith: There will be a brief overview of the ZMS architecture thats inside the ZiiEgg device. This will be followed by a discussion on the challenges we faced getting the most out of the ZMS-05 platform, highlighting the areas where we have provided hardware acceleration.
