About David A. Black
|
|
David A. Black is a well-known and highly-regarded Ruby programmer, trainer,
author, speaker, and event organizer.
He is the author of The Well-Grounded Rubyist (Manning
Publications, 2009), and runs the Ruby/Rails consultancy and training
company Ruby Power and Light,
LLC, based in New Jersey, USA. David brings thirteen years of
full-time university teaching experience to his work as a Ruby and
Rails trainer, and has conducted training classes across the United
States and in Canada, the UK, Germany, and Sweden.
Active in the Ruby world since 2000, David is a Ruby standard library
contributor, and one of the founding directors of Ruby Central, Inc., the parent
organization of RubyConf (the
annual official International Ruby Conference) and RailsConf. He has been involved in
the planning of every RubyConf since the event started in 2001.
David has been interviewed by InfoQ,
On
Ruby, and RubyLearning.
He is also a frequent invited speaker at technical conferences and
user groups in the US and Europe; a member of the Professional Development
Committee of ACM; and a Strategic Advisor, Ruby
and Rails Training for Cyrus Innovation.
