About John Stevenson

John coaches teams to discover value in the application of lean & agile practices and encourage them to evolve the way they deliver. Currently working with Atlassian, one of the most respected software developer tools companies in the world, helping them raise the bar of software development practices and build a world wide technical community.
Applying his knowledge of agile software development within traditional industries, John has help teams leverage these agile techniques to deliver greater business value. He has also worked with startups in and out of the software industry applying lean startup techniques and kanban for just-in-time delivery.
John is active in the community and has helped organise several technical communities in the UK, including the London Java Community, London Limited WIP society, Graduate Development community, London Clojurians and London Scala user group. He also had articles published in Ovum reports and is a contributor to JAXEnter.com
In the past, John has worked as a developer and consultant on many projects, offering advice from Object Oriented analysis and design, development on the Java platform and Open Source Software. He has also worked for training companies such as Objective Alliance and Valtech, providing training on UML, iterative development and extreme programming.
In his spare time, John likes to cycle, quite a lot... like 200km on a weekend if he is not too busy learning more Clojure and tweaking Emacs.
