We are currently looking for an energetic, on the ball and ambitious Junior Event Coordinator to join our team... If this sounds like you, read on!
You
Jack/Jill of all Trades - You turn around 4 room from classroom style to theatre style seating 75 people. In the mean time, you get some 100 developers to empty their cups in our recycle bins, and you laugh at bad jokes with sincerity.
Self-driven - You have excellent organisational skills, integrity and great follow-through on tasks. You don't get overwhelmed easily - hundreds of attendees each day and night? No biggie!
Naturally curious - You're a natural innovator with a knack for deliberate discovery - always looking for ways to make things better.
Graceful - You're self aware and well-spoken during meetings, at reception, on the phone and in emails. You have a great ability to make people feel welcome and supported and could turn around a 1,000 people event in a couple of days... Or not yet, but you'll figure it out.
Fun - You're a people person who can talk to anyone; you're both flexible and fearless.
Motivated - Own it, make it bigger, better - Or rather, you're going to take ownership of the time you spend with us and truly make a difference.
Us
We are 16 strong team, committed to help make London the all-star tech community unlike anything, anywhere in the world. We are a company that values do-ers over talkers and mentors over managers. We are a company where people who take risks and win are rewarded and grow. Our team is ambitious and passionate; the environment is relaxed and fun. We get stuff done that makes a difference.
And we're looking for superstar talent to come join the team.
Our goal is to help make London the most exciting place in the world when it comes to software innovation, and we're on our way. We help our community learn, innovate, and share skills by creating together and running some 1,200 events each year (talks, conferences, workshops), half of these free. These events feature cutting edge topics and talks by the world’s leading thinkers and innovators in software.
The Role
We are looking for a fast thinking, highly organised and ambitious colleague to join our team as an Event Coordinator to get stuff done. As our Event Coordinator, you will make sure our events are well planned, well implemented and successfully executed.
This is a key, busy and varied role. A fast turnaround is critical, with at least two events every evening and several courses during the day time, in addition to some 25 annual conferences each year.
This is a permanent position and the work week for this role is five days of the week, starting at 12:00 and finishing at 21:00 every day. This position is very hands-on and interactive and is based here in our central London offices. The starting salary for this role is somewhere between £18,000-£24,000, depending on your existing experience.
Initial training will be provided, of course, and over time you may like to attend some of our exciting workshops on Agile Project Management, Team Leadership, Kanban and other cool stuff happening at Skills Matter, by some of the world’s most inspiring brains....
Get in touch!
Every member of the Skills Matter Team is expected to be an Innovator, a Collaborator, a Champion for their ideas, an Expert and to have High Standards; be dedicated to the power of self-organised groups and our mission to help London’s software innovators be the best in the world, through the learning and sharing of skills at our events.
If you work well in such an environment, and if the profile above describes you, then get your skates on and send us a cover email and CV! In your cover email, please tell us a bit about yourself, what you’re passionate about, or something you’re an expert in. We are also keen to learn why you think you can make a difference in this job, ideally with some examples to demonstrate your point, and why you would like to work with us.
