Find Your Ninja Project:Causata
Causata
Causata is a well-funded 3-year old startup, backed by Accel, with headquarters in Silicon Valley but the whole engineering team (currently 15, but growing fast) in Victoria, London. We combine big data, low latency, and machine learning, to drive real-time marketing decisions - what to show on a website, whether to send an email, what to suggest at a store checkout, etc. We're a product company - we're a marketing automation platform, which runs either in the cloud or in the client's datacenter.
Our clients are large retailers, retail banks, and B2B enterprises who themselves have large numbers of customers (tens to hundreds of millions.) We assemble data around each customer, perform statistical learning across all these customers, and then make real-time decisions on how best to serve the customer.
We're looking for strong developers in two areas:
We need high performance java developers who understand what it takes to make a distributed system scale and perform well. You'll be great at multithreading, you'll understand the reasons behind each architectural design decision, and you'll care a lot about your system working 100% in production. We've written our own data platform in core java, in order to meet the competing needs of low latency, scalability and flexibility, but we're always evaluating other technologies out there.
We're also looking for talented front-end JavaScript developers to build an awesome UI, that takes all of this complex data and makes it easy to understand for marketers, and makes it easy for them to use Causata to control all their activities. We need you to figure out the right way to look at the data so that it's clear and intuitive to the marketer, without losing all of the power in the data.
We are looking for passionate, opinionated and creative individuals with a laser sharp eye for detail, who understand the intricacies of cross-browser development. We believe that a great design is at the heart of any successful product, and we work very closely with Design, UX and our customers. You should enjoy those types of interactions and be happy seeking out feedback from non-engineers.
You must care deeply about the quality of your code; its clarity, documentation, and testing. You should have a keen interest in emerging technologies, and the ability to identify any that could be of benefit. We often like (but aren't restricted to) people with a maths/stats/science/engineering background. We're very big on automated testing, and on strong communication skills. As well as a competitive salary, you'll be offered stock options.
