Agile Testing UK:The (rocky) road to agile at The Walt Disney Company EMEA - An experience report
The (rocky) road to agile at The Walt Disney Company EMEA - An experience report
Richard will cover his teams successes and failures, with a focus on
what has proved to be the most difficult nut to crack, true agile
testing.
He will explore some of the blind alleys and false starts
his team has grappled with as they have slowly come to appreciate what
agile testing is all about.
He will also discuss some of the
environmental factors that have had to change to get to the point that
more people are beginning to take agile testing seriously.

Steve Freeman and Nat Pryce's Growing Real Systems Guided by Tests (March 28-29th)
Steve Freeman's Growing Real Systems Guided by Tests is an advanced course for those who want to improve their practice of Test-Driven Development.
This 2 day Test-Driven Development course shows how to use tests to guide the development of software. We show how to apply this critical skill, using test friction to show us where the boundaries in the code should be so that we can write expressive, coherent code. We also show how TDD works at the larger scale, helping us build reliable systems that fit into the usual soup of third-party services. In particular, we address working with asynchrony and distribution. Find out more here
Even bad code can function. But if code isn't clean, it can bring a development organisation to its knees. Every year, countless hours and significant resources are lost because of poorly written code. But it doesn't have to be that way? This is a two-day hands-on course in which you will learn the principles and practices of Clean Code as described in Robert C. Martin's book: Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship. You will also receive this book as part of the course materials. This Clean Code course alternates between lecture and exercise so that you can experience, first-hand, the practices and disciplines of these fundamental topics.

Gojko Adzic's Test Driven Development Workshop (April 18-19)
Gojko Adzic's two day workshop on Test Driven Development (TDD) enables you to experience and learn test driven development by doing it. You will be immersed in a realistic TDD project, allowing you to learn the practices and principles of test driven development and try them out in practice. Through facilitated exercises and discussion, you will experience two days of working on an agile test-driven team. You will use and learn basic Test Driven Development practices including unit testing, refactoring and related agile practices such as continuous integration and pair programming. You will understand the reasons behind TDD and experience its benefits first-hand. By applying what you learn, you will be able to build quality into software from the start, design and develop systems fit for purpose and write code that is easy to maintain and evolve in the future. The is a completely hands-on workshop with coding straight from the start, interrupted by very short presentations to explain the practices and put things into a wider perspective. It is based on the very latest tools, current knowledge and ideas from the community. Find out more here
SPEEDCODING LONDON 2011: Beyond Basic TDD
Inspired by an Open Space session at CITCON London on practices and techniques that take people beyond basic TDD, we have organised four intensive hands-on coding workshops in 2011 to explore the advanced topics of test driven development and object design. In these workshops, you'll work in pairs, frequently switching who you'll pair with, to explore different models, provide and benefit from pair coaching. Bring your own laptop and work in your favourite IDE/language. The speed coding exercises are designed by Gojko Adzic, who will facilitate the workshops.
