JavaScript as a Disruptive Language
Ajax, as a disruptive technology, has re-invigorated the world of web development in the last 2-3 years. The changes brought about by Web 2.0 span business, technological and social factors, but a significant part of it rests with the ways programmers choose to express themselves in code too. During this session, Dave as looked at the synergistic rise of Ajax and Functional JavaScript, discussed the merits of OO and Functional programming styles, and showed how working with something as mundane and useful as Ajax can serve as a gentle introduction to this powerful (and scary) programming style

Dave Crane has been working with the internet since the early 1990's and has experience of Perl, Java, Jini, JEE, Python and Ruby and, of course, Javascript. He has written extensively about Ajax and pattern languages for the client-side.
