London .NET User Group:So you think you know JavaScript?
So you think you know JavaScript?
JavaScript is the world's most popular programming language. Many developers still consider JS a scripting language - fine for spicing up web pages, unsuitable for 'proper' application development - but whilst we're all getting excited about dynamic types and lambdas and functional paradigms in C#, we're ignoring the language that's been right under our noses for more than a decade.
In this talk, we're going to get right back to the roots of JavaScript. We'll examine the languages that influenced JavaScript, and how the legacy of those influences is visible even in modern JavaScript frameworks. We're going to look at how a functional language ended up running in a web browser in 1995, and how JS has evolved over the last 15 years. We'll cover writing servers in JavaScript using node.js, writing offline desktop and mobile applications using JavaScript and HTML5, and at how you can take your .NET web app development to the next level using frameworks like Knockout.js

Damjan Vujnovic's Advanced JavaScript Workshop
As Douglas Crockford once said, JavaScript is the world's most misunderstood programming language. It is also one of the world's most popular programming languages and one of the cornerstones of a modern web application development. With web clients becoming thicker and more complex, it is no longer easy to get away with sloppy, ad-hoc JavaScript programming style. In this advanced JavaScript hands-on course you will learn how to write good code (by employing its good features and avoiding quirks and common pitfalls). To find out about learning objectives, dates and how to get some tickets, go here
Ayende Rahien's NHibernate 3.0 WorkshopIn this 4-day NHibernate 3.0 workshop, authored by Ayende Rahien and Sebastien Lambla, you will learn how to use this O/R mapping tool efficiently in your applications to save time and effort on communicating with database storage. During the course we build a practical application together, that demonstrates all important data management patterns in Nhibernate. Find out more here
