Ruby+Arduino
Arduino is an inexpensive Open Source physical computing platform which makes building interactive gadgets of your design much easier on the hardware side. Now let's add some Ruby so programming those gadgets becomes easy too.
Tomasz demonstrates how ruby can be used with arduino, stating that this is achieved not directly with ruby code, but it also requires a C++ driver that delivers the required data from the arduino hardware.

LRUG is the London Ruby User Group; a community of ruby developers based in and around London. We meet up at least once a month; on the 2nd Wednesday of the month we have meetings with talks, demos and such-like and then we have pub-based meetups organised on an ad-hoc basis (roughly half-way between meetings).
