Review:
Cleve Gibbon makes a brief introduction to the event by talking about his life experience and his experiences in object oriented software design.
What tends to be forgotten by most developers is the fact that in the real world, software should be designed from the customer point of view. The eXchange focuses on how software design for financial applications can be improved and includes interesting talks about various aspects of software design and architecture in general as well.
Matt Deacon will talk about Sustainable IT and Microsoft’s vision about environmental problems. Eric Evans’s talk will be about Domain Driven Design. It will be followed by Jim Kennedy & Gordon Weir’s experiences in 2 years of developing a banking application. Neil Bartlett will talk about using OSGi in banking. Eric Stenman’s talk will be about their experiences with the Erlang language in developing a banking system and advantages of using Erlang. Then Dominique Delarue will explain the Market Risk System at BNP Paribas. Brian Oliver of Oracle will give a talk about managing large amounts of data over highly distributed systems. The final talk by Rod Johnson will be about lessons that can be learned from the history of enterprise Java and how innovation can be sustained for future development.
