Overview and demo of g-Eclipse
g-Eclipse provides plugins to the Eclipse workbench to enable users, application developers and operators to access the power of Grid infrastructures. It consists of a core middleware-independent part and support for various Grid middlewares is implemented as plugins. Currently the gLite and GRIA middlewares are supported with exemplary plugins.

Review:
In this talk, Ashish introduces the g-Eclipse tool for managing a grid computing system. After briefly explaining grid computing, Ashish explains the need for the g-Eclipse tool, as interfacing with grid systems can currently be quite a complicated process. Traditionally people have operated grid computers from the command line, but there are many others who have already used eclipse. The idea behind g-Eclipse is to provide a graphical frontend to successfully managing a grid with a plug-in structure that other grid middleware can interface with.

g-Eclipse aims to satisfy all 3 typical users of the application through perspectives. The user mode enables you to submit jobs and monitor workflow. The developer mode can code applications, deploy them and debug remotely. The operator mode allows monitoring of resources.

Ashish ends with a demonstration of the available modes within g-Eclipse and how g-Eclipse can interface with the different grid computing environments.
