Spring in Finance eXchange 2008: Gary Levy on Welcome to the Spring in Finance eXchange
Welcome to the Spring in Finance eXchange
Gary Levy provides introductions and details on the day's activities.

Review
Gary Levy discusses some of the key facts about SpringSource Enterprise and SpringSource Enterprise UK (located in Southampton). They provide services in maintenance, consultancy, sales & marketing, and also have an R&D department of 25 people. Gary says that these services are intended to help organisations build and run Spring-powered enterprise applications more productively, securely, and with the greatest uptime.

Gary goes on to say how SpringSource supports community editions of software until the next release candidate comes out for major version. Companies with enterprise contracts can have access to any specific source code they want with full support for 3 years. He stresses that it is completely okay to use Spring without a support contract, however.

Gary ends by discussing dm Server and the SpringSource Application Management Suite:
The SpringSource dm Server is based on the dm Kernel which provides a module-based backbone for the server and harnesses the power of Spring, Apache Tomcat and OSGi-based technologies. It is free.

The SpringSource Application Management Suite is a comprehensive enterprise application management tool designed specifically to manage and monitor Spring-powered applications.

More information about SpringSource Enterprise can be found here.
