London Java Community:Spring Roo
Spring Roo
Jan Macháček's Spring Roo talk will introduce you to the ideas behind Roo and their technical implementation. The talk will show you the main architectural choices of the Roo applications, explain the Spring configuration under the hood. Looking beyond the usual object-oriented Spring code, Jan will show you how Roo understands the structure of the application using the source-level annotations and how it separates out the custom code from the code it generates using the intra-type Aspects. To demonstrate all this, Jan will be showing you how to use Roo to rapidly prototype your application and, once that's done, how to take your application beyond the prototype. To close, Jan will discuss the question on everyone's mind: "is Roo worth it?"

Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Roo Workshop

In Jan Machacek’s two day Practical Roo Workshop you will learn about Spring Roo. You will learn about the task Roo sets out to solve, the technical details of the solutions and, perhaps most importantly, the architectural choices Roo makes for you. In particular, you will learn about how to use Roo, how to run the code it produces, and how to modify the code manually as well as using further Roo commands. Find out more here

Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Web Workshop

In Jan Machacek’s three day Practical Spring Web Workshop you will learn about building and deploying the web tier of a Spring based application. In particular, you will learn about patterns of web programming in general (in particular about the MVC design pattern). You will then see the elements of the Spring Framework that make up the model, view and controllers. This Practical Spring Web Workshop will highlight modern programming approaches: minimising dependencies, favouring declarative over imperative approaches. Find out more here

Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Developer Workshop

In this 3-day intensive Practical Spring Developer Workshop, you will learn everything you need to build and deploy a Spring based application. You will see why the Spring Framework is a good choice for building your applications and how to efficiently structure and make your code maintainable and scalable. You will learn techniques and tools that will dramatically increase your day to day productivity as a software developer. You will learn about the principles of good application design and how the core of the Spring Framework implements those principles. We will then introduce aspect-oriented programming; followed by discussion of efficient data access using Hibernate. Find out more here
