SOA Governance – Approach, Layers, Policy Examples
This session will provide an approach, layers, and policy examples related to SOA Governance.
Michael will present a a vendor-independent view on SOA Governance, from the enterprise to the Project levels, based on OASIS SOA Reference Model and SOA Reference Architecture, draft, standards. Abstractions defined in the standards are narrowed down to practical recommendations supported with live cases and examples.

This talk provides an introduction to the course that will be given by Michael on SOA Governance. The course is aimed to provide a vendor-independent view on SOA Governance based on OASIS SOA Reference Model and SOA Reference Architecture. The course prepares you to easily navigate governance structure, develop governance function embedded into a development life cycle, define the need for governance systems and tools, and see service-orientation as the enterprise driver across business and technology boundaries.
Michael indicates that OASIS SOA Reference Model – Standard is going to be among the course resources. This Reference Model is being developed to encourage the continued growth of different and specialized SOA implementations whilst preserving a common layer of understanding about what SOA is. Michael discusses Standards-based Governance, SOA Governance and Ownership, Governance of Service Structure, Policies for SOA Service Versioning, IT Operational Challenges and Governance, Governance of SOA Infrastructure, Governance of Service Inventory, Governance of Participant Interactions in SOA, SOA Governance in TOGAF and ITIL, SOA Governance Policy Examples and best practices for getting started.
