Haskell eXchange 2012: Blake Rain on Scalable web applications with Yesod
Scalable web applications with Yesod
Yesod is used to develop fast and scalable web applications. Taking advantage
of Haskell's strong type system and compile-time guarantees, we are able to
solve many of the issues that can arise during development: from dealing with
the stateless nature of HTTP, to countering common security threats.
In this talk, Blake will be looking at Yesod and web development in Haskell from a
more practical point of view. You'll take a look at Yesod's key features and how
they can be used to rapidly develop correct, fast and scalable applications.

Want to learn how to use Haskell, its type system design and functional programming concepts? And find out how to use the features that make Haskell unique even among functional languages? Join Haskell expert Andres Loh on February 4-5th (2013) and learn how you can use Haskell's excellent capabilities for abstraction to design robust functional programs in a principled and systematic way! This two-day Haskell course gives you the chance to deepen your understanding and master some of Haskell's more advanced concepts.
In this course, you will learn all about:
-Haskell's evaluation mechanism and how to debug performance problems.
-Techniques and what data structures to use for getting the most idiomatic and best performing code.
-Abstractions offered for both concurrency and high-level, deterministic parallel programming, enabled by Haskell's explicit side effects.
