London Java Community:JVM Cloud Platform
JVM Cloud Platform
Peter Ledbrook will be presenting JVM Cloud Platform. The cloud is the biggest software development story of 2011 and now is the time to find out why. This talk will look at one of several cloud hosting solutions for Java web applications: Cloud Foundry from VMware. Learn how it works and what it means for you as a software developer. How does it impact application development? What are the benefits? These questions and more will be answered.
This will mostly be a presentation with a small demo. The presentation will start by covering what a PaaS is and give a brief overview of the current landscape. Peter will then introduce Cloud Foundry and go into some of the detail of how it works. Most importantly, Peter will be talking about how one writes Java applications for it and how developers have to change the way they think. At the end, time permitting, Peter will finish up with a short demo of deploying a Grails application to Cloud Foundry.

Jan Machacek’s Practical Spring Developer WorkshopIn this 3-day intensive Practical Spring Developer Workshop, you will learn everything you need to build and deploy a Spring based application. You will see why the Spring Framework is a good choice for building your applications and how to efficiently structure and make your code maintainable and scalable. You will learn techniques and tools that will dramatically increase your day to day productivity as a software developer. You will learn about the principles of good application design and how the core of the Spring Framework implements those principles. We will then introduce aspect-oriented programming; followed by discussion of efficient data access using Hibernate. Find out more here

Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Integration WorkshopIn this 3-day Practical Spring Integration Workshop you will learn about building and developing message-driven enterprise applications using Spring Integration.
In particular, you will learn about patterns of message-driven programming in general and then see how the elements of the Spring Integration map to the concepts of message-driven programming. This Practical Spring Integration Workshop will highlight modern programming approaches: minimising dependencies, favouring declarative over imperative approaches. Find out more here
