JAX London 2010: Toni Menzel on Pax Exam 2.0 – Testing in the Cloud
Pax Exam 2.0 – Testing in the Cloud
In this talk, Toni Menzle explains the new idea brewing underneath the new version of PaxExam, 2.0 – a tool used to ease testing of OSGi frameworks and applications. Toni starts off by recapping on some minor background knowledge to the testing platform, and he describes the mission of PaxExam as “Make it ridiculously easy to run some code against an OSGi setup”. He then follows from this by diving into details regarding its anatomy and its option API, and then highlights what version 1.x has managed to achieve and thus contrasts it with the upcoming 2.0 build. Some areas he mentions include providing more power to the developer by theme-ing 2.0 as a platform for OSGi testing and out-of container capabilities. Concluding the talk, Toni directs attention to several noticeable advancements to 2.0 – most notably is its newly found similarity to Remote Target (PaxExam 2.0 acts as an Apache ACE client and brings in powerful cloud testing capabilities).
