Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Workshop
In this 3-day intensive Practical Spring Developer Workshop, you will learn everything you need to build and deploy a Spring based application. You will see why the Spring Framework is a good choice for building your applications and how to efficiently structure and make your code maintainable and scalable. You will learn techniques and tools that will dramatically increase your day to day productivity as a software developer. You will learn about the principles of good application design and how the core of the Spring Framework implements those principles. We will then introduce aspect-oriented programming; followed by discussion of efficient data access using Hibernate. We will then build on top of the code we have created to demonstrate the services tier that brings together all concepts in the course. We finish on a high note by showing how to take the server-side code in an elegant web application and will complete the course by showing how easy it is to add support for RESTful interfaces.

Jan Machacek's Practical Spring Web Workshop
In Jan Machacek’s three day Practical Spring Web Workshop you will learn about building and deploying the web tier of a Spring based application. In particular, you will learn about patterns of web programming in general (in particular about the MVC design pattern). You will then see the elements of the Spring Framework that make up the model, view and controllers. This Practical Spring Web Workshop will highlight modern programming approaches: minimising dependencies, favouring declarative over imperative approaches. Once you have a good understanding of the basics, we will explore the advanced concepts in Spring MVC: you will learn how the Spring Framework routes the HTTP requests to your controllers, how it maps the request parameters to the method parameters. You will also learn how to extend the Spring MVC infrastructure. We complete the course by showing how easy it is to add support for RESTful interfaces and poor man’s XML web services.

Damjan Vujnovic's Advanced JavaScript Workshop
As Douglas Crockford once said, JavaScript is the world's most misunderstoodprogramming language. It is also one of the world's most popular programming languages and one of the cornerstones of a modern web application development. With web clients becoming thicker and more complex, it is no longer easy to get away with sloppy, ad-hoc JavaScript programming style. In this advanced JavaScript hands-on course you will learn how to write good code (by employing its good features and avoiding quirks and common pitfalls).

ABOUT THE LONDON SPRING USER GROUP
|
Founded in 2006, the London Spring User Group is now run by Jan Macachek and is a community for hands-on, pragmatic software architects and Spring and JEE developers. We organise monthly events at Skills Matter's premises and also have a discussion group on Linkedin. Join us if you are an architect or developer interested to learn about Spring, architecture, news, features and interesting stuff and share experiences with other Spring users. We meet every second Tuesday of the month at Skills Matter and always go to the pub afterwards.
We also have a Spring UG UK discussion group on Linkedin
Join us if you are an architect or developer interested to learn about Spring, architecture, news, features and interesting stuff and share experiences with other Spring users.
