London Cloud Computing Meetup:Google App Engine
Google App Engine
Introduced in the Spring of 2008, Google App Engine is Google’s entrant into the cloud computing market and lets you run your web applications on Google's infrastructure. Google App Engine applications automatically scale as your traffic and data storage needs grow. You can share your applications with the world or limit access to members of your enterprise. Google App Engine applications can use up to 1 GB of storage and enough CPU and bandwidth to support apps serving around 5 million page views a month, absolutely free. With Google App Engine you only pay for resources you use above the free levels.
In this session, Robert Schneider will describe the fundamental components of Google App Engine, including App Engine Services (such as URL fetch, memcache, mail, and so on), Datastore, and the application development/deployment process. He’ll illustrate these concepts through a mixture of lecture and demonstrations. In addition, he’ll compare Google’s offering with Amazon Web Services.
This is a webinar, Dr Schneider will speak via Skype.
