Droidcon London 2009: Gabor Paller on Understanding Android bytecode with the Dedexer tool
Understanding Android bytecode with the Dedexer tool
The core of the Android system is the Dalvik virtual machine. Even though the Android application programmer writes code in Java (in most cases), the Dalvik virtual machine executes this code using some innovative solutions.

The public domain Dedexer disassembler will be used to discover the inner workings of this virtual machine.

In this session, Gabor explains the differences between the standard Java and Dalvik bytecode file format and present the advantages of the Dalvik approach in mobile environment over the standard Java Virtual Machine.
