Find Your Ninja Project:LOVEFiLM
LOVEFiLM
At this event, around 10 Tech Companies will pitch their coding projects in a series of 5-minute lightning sessions to software developers looking for interesting, agile projects using progressive technologies.
LOVEFiLM is an Amazon company and is the leading European film subscription service with over 2 million members in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. LOVEFiLM members have generated over 80 million film ratings and written more than 1 million reviews. We have grown from a fledgling startup to being the most visited Entertainment and Movie website in the UK, with over 6 million unique visitors every month.
LOVEFiLM Instant is available on over 175 Internet-enabled devices including PCs, PlayStation®3, iPad®, Xbox 360, plus a growing number of Blu-Ray players and Internet-connected TVs including Sony, Samsung and Cello.
LOVEFiLM Technology Stack
The LOVEFiLM website is a mixture of HTML (mostly XHTML 1.1, with parts of HTML5 beginning to creep in), CSS, JavaScript and (for video playback) Silverlight.
On the server-side, we use the Perl-powered Mason templating engine and the heavy data lifting is done by a suite of Perl modules. Deeper down the rabbit hole, we use whatever technologies fit our needs: memcached, elasticsearch, Solr, Magnolia and more.
What we are looking for
We are looking for both client- and server-side developers of all experience levels. We ambitious growth targets for the team over the coming months and years.
Skills-wise, we're really looking for aptitude and ability over and above particular language or technology skills. That said, if you've got strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, have years of experience working on Perl/Mason based sites, or are a superb polyglot Java developer, we'd love to hear from you.
LOVEFiLM Projects
