Spring in Finance eXchange 2008: Russ Miles on Introductions to Spring .Net and Spring Extensions
Introductions to Spring .Net and Spring Extensions
In this talk Russ Miles will take a deep dive into building real-world web applications using Asp.NET and Spring.NET. Heavily code orientated, Spring.NET will be demonstrated as a set of tools that plug the gaps in your full Asp.NET toolbox.
Review:
Russ Miles, a senior consultant for SpringSource, talks about the Spring.Net application framework and the Spring Extensions project.
He first discusses aspects of being involved in an industrialisation project and how a good balance between craft and industrialisation is achieved. He then briefly introduces the Spring Programming Model. Russ uses Spring.Net as an example of proving this balance. The same architectural concepts and patterns in enterprise Java are applicable to .Net. Some New features of Spring .Net version 1.2 are introduced. Spring.Net provides a consistent cross-platform programming model.
Finally a brief introduction to Spring Extensions is provided: Spring Modules are a big bag of different implementations of the Spring programming model, however they have some technical and organisational faults. It is for this reason that SpringSource created Spring Extensions. Russ Miles explains the module development process for Spring Extensions.
