Open Source Jumpstart: Tooling Up
Following on from the Open Source Jumpstart in April we are running the first event in a series designed to introduce the most common Open Source tools encountered as a professional developer at work or when contributing to OSS projects. The series will show how the concepts taught at University in computing science and software engineering modules can be applied effectively with Open Source tools and help establish a highly agile approach to the whole software development cycle.
No previous knowledge of open source tools is required as the series will provide practical examples of open source tool use, war stories and experience gained from using each tool. So, if you've ever wondered - "How does that Software Engineering concept actually get applied in the workplaces?" this series can help you find out.
Our first event provides two talks - an overview of the Open Source tools space, and "Hidden gems and pitfalls - going beyond the basics of development with build, test and version control tools".
We believe that this series will be invaluable for current students and recent graduates.
The presentation is given by Ben Evans, John Stevenson & Martijn Verburg.
