In-Field Data Discovery
In this session, Gobe Hobona gives a talk on Location-Based Discovery Of Geoscientific Datasets During Fieldwork.

He started by giving a background on the motivation and aim of the project.

He clearly defined the project's methodology as developing a demonstrator prototype that enables mobile phones with built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) devices to query repositories supporting standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the target platform are phone running Google's Android OS.

Gobe explained the internal workflow of the system model with screen shots.

Moving in greater details, He also talked on the key features, querying system and the performance of the Location-Based Discovery application.

He concluded his talk by exhibiting and explaining some bits of code from the application.

Gobe Hobona is a researcher in the Centre for Geospatial Science at the University of Nottingham. He is the lead software engineer on the SPACER project.
