Bazel is a build automation tool originally developed by Google. Since being open-sourced in 2015, a unique community of Bazel enthusiasts has grown around the world.

Bazel is quickly becoming the go-to tool for teams who are looking to reliably speed up their builds and tests.

Bazel eXchange is a new, community-focused conference designed to offer Bazel practitioners a space to learn and share knowledge with one another. Join us to discover why companies like Salesforce, Ticketmaster, Stripe, Twitter, Spotify and more include Bazel in their tech stack.

Get Involved

As this is the first year of the conference, we encourage you to get involved by submitting a proposal to our Call for Speakers.


Who should attend?

Bazel can help scale your organization and your codebase — no matter how large it is, and Bazel eXchange is the best place to connect with other Bazel users from around the globe to share strategies and knowledge.

You'll get the most out of Bazel eXchange if you are a:

Will it be online or in-person?

Bazel eXchange will primarily be hosted as an Online conference with both speakers and attendees joining virtually.

HOWEVER, we hope to introduce an in-person, watch party / hangout to be hosted in a few cities during the event.

Would you like to speak at Bazel eXchange? We want to hear your talk proposals!

Bazel eXchange is a new, community-focused conference designed to offer Bazel users a space to learn and share knowledge with one another.

Speaking at a conference is a powerful way to share your ideas and influence the future of Bazel. As a speaker, you will have the opportunity to share your Bazel experience with a global audience of practitioners.

We actively encourage submissions on the following topics:

  • Bazel at Scale
  • Improving Build Times
  • Hermeticity and Reproducibility
  • Bazel Rules or Extensions
  • Multi-Platform Uses or Cross Compilation
  • Developer Experience (e.g. IDE Integration or Tooling)
  • Dependency Management or Package Manager Integration
  • Distribution or Deployment
  • Bazel and Machine Learning
  • Adoption Stories and Case Studies
Submit a Talk
Guidelines

Submissions should be for one of the following session types:

  • 30-40 minute talk
  • 10-15 minute lightning talk
  • 60 minute panels
  • Half-day workshops

Talks will be selected by Skills Matter and the Bazel eXchange Programme Committee on the basis of making the conference a varied and valuable event. Submission is open to anyone.

Proposals must be submitted to Skills Matter by 23:59 UTC on 23 March 2022 in order to be considered by the program committee.

Chosen speakers will receive two free tickets to the conference: one for the speaker and one for a guest of their choosing.

Recording

All Bazel eXchange sessions will be recorded.

After the conference, recordings are available to Bazel eXchange ticket holders and Skills Matter Premium Members for a period of 90 days. After this time, they will become freely available on the Skills Matter platform.

First Time Speaker?

We are actively encouraging first-time speakers to submit a proposal to Bazel eXchange. You've got a unique point‑of‑view and we want to hear it.

New voices will strengthen the Bazel community and help it grow. We strongly encourage new users and first-time speakers to submit a proposal and are very excited to read proposals featuring your fresh perspective.
