A Sneak Preview of ContainerSched 2016

We're delighted to welcome a fantastic range of experts and sponsors to this year's conference. On these pages, you'll find a heads-up on some of the content they'll be sharing at the second edition of ContainerSched in London this year.

Looking forward to ContainerSched 2016? Share it!

Looking forward to ContainerSched 2016? We'd love to hear what you are most looking forward to!

Liz Rice, ContainerSched Programme Committee Lead and Speaker, on the second edition of ContainerSched... not to be missed!

I'm excited to be joining ContainerSched 2016 where I will be sharing my thoughts on The Maths Behind Microscaling. If you were at last year's conference you might have seen me talking about our early exploration of using the fast spin-up times of containers to balance microservice workloads in the face of unpredictable traffic. Since then we've done more work scaling to meet performance targets, and I'll be talking about some of the maths I've had to learn and re-learn to get this working.

The best thing about being part of the containers community at ContainerSched is meeting and talking with so many of the top people from around the world who are building and driving forward container and orchestration technolog y.

At ContainerSched I most looking forward to learning about real-world problems that people are having in their adoption of containers, and how new tools and ideas will address that. Our team is also exploring some ideas around container metadata and we're hoping to pick a few people's brains about that at the conference!

If you enjoy a little bit of maths - especially if you're feeling a bit rusty - come along to my talk where I'll be talking about some of the adventures I've had figuring out whether the same control theory equations that are used to fly drones are also applicable for scaling containers to meet performance targets.

Eager to know what Adrian Colyer thinks about the future of Containers?

I am excited to joining ContainerSched 2016 where I will be sharing my thoughts on the state of the ecosystem, and what I believe are some of the most important fundamentals driving the move to containers.

The best thing about being part of the containers community at ContainerSched is getting to spend time with all the attendees and speakers, exchanging views, and sharpening my own thinking.

At ContainerSched I most looking forward to learning about user experiences working with cloud-native technologies, and the journey that companies are going on to transform the way they work.

I think the the most anticipated/exciting development for the containers community over the next 12 months will be seeing a whole new wave of end-user testimonials as containers go bravely into production in more and more places...

Here's Ed Harrison's view on ContainerSched 2016 and why you shall NOT miss it!

Having attended the inaugural ContainerSched conference last year as a mere spectator, I'm very excited to be speaking at this year's conference. Application security is, of course, an important subject and I'll be sharing my thoughts on how the move to microservice architectures has provided us with a great opportunity to do away with traditional firewalls and, instead, use modern technologies to provide dynamic, scalable security which is tailored to each application's specific requirements.

My particular talk should be enjoyed by anyone who has a passing interest in security which, to be honest, should be most people! I think container security and "policy" is going to be an increasingly hot topic over the next 12 months as people move from their early "containers sound interesting - let's have a play" phase into real deployment.

Attending last year's ContainerSched provided me with a great opportunity to meet up with many of the "players" in the container community in London and beyond. A lot can happen in a year, though, and this year's event promises to be even bigger and more exciting. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how people have spent the last 12 months taking the journey from initial experiments with docker on their Macbook through to embracing the whole "cloud native" approach and actually moving into production.

It should be fun and I hope to see you there!

Containers... What is the fuss all about? We asked Daniël van Gils, who will give a talk at ContainerSched 2016!

Containers containers containers. The tech world is going crazy with things like containers, microservices, serverless and all kind of new kids on the block. There is a breeze of new and exciting technology and I’m excited to join ContainerSched 2016, where I will be sharing my thoughts on "How the hell to I run containers in production and will it scale?".

There are many issues to be addressed and I think that, together with the community, we are getting there. It’s still the early days and there is a lot to pioneer on those great green field. With my talk I want to inspire others on how they are going to run containers in production, sharing ideas (I researched over 500 different docker stacks in production) and talk about how designers, developers, and the operation people have to cooperate more to succeed with containers.

The key issue I will address starts with the basics: the minimal viable image. Without that, you’ll get yourself in a lot of trouble running containers in production.

Join me on this interesting journey at ContainerSched 2016.

Wanna find out more? Jump to the Programme Page!

Our keynote speaker Michael Hausenblas tells us why he's excited to be part of ContainerSched once again... and so we are!

I love ContainerSched. Why? It's simple: ContainerSched is the best event in the container space. ContainerSched is neutral and balanced, technical and community-oriented.

My first experience with ContainerSched was in 2015 when I gave a talk on container orchestration and the discussions I had there, both during the sessions and in the breaks, were awesome. I learned a lot from others and was able to connect with folks who care about containerized workloads as much as I do.

This year, I will talk about a few important aspects of container operations: how container images are build and deployed, something that is relevant for devops as well as architects. Since words are only so credible, I will of course demonstrate what I mean by container operations using DC/OS and selected packages that come with it (mainly Jenkins and Marathon). I do think we will see a shift of focus from container orchestration to container operations within the next couple of months and my talk this year hopefully convinces you that this is something happening as we speak.

So, I'm super excited to be part of this wonderful community and hope to meet you at ContainerSched 2016 in London.
