Skills Matter is seeking a hybrid Business Development Representative / Customer Success Manager to join our fast growing, global company. The role will initially be remote with the plan, in time, to work from an office in Sydney.

With locations in Sydney, London and Austin we are in a rapid growth phase with Series A funding in the works as we focus on creating the global Community and Events platform for software professionals.

Our aim is to enable collaboration and up-skilling for software engineers by building the world's largest tech community, connecting software engineers with their peers and leading experts. With over 100,000 members, we host conferences, training workshops, and meet-ups - both online and in-person - for the software tech industry across the globe.

About the role

Skills Matter is looking for a hybrid BDR/CSM who is eager and excited to develop their sales and support career and join our team in Australia. The ideal candidate will have an energetic, can-do attitude with excellent communication skills.

Besides having an insatiable hunger to learn and a strong drive to contribute towards the team’s goals, here’s what we expect from you in a day’s work:

  • (BDR) Source new B2B sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound efforts via LinkedIn, email, call and social strategies. (If you’re shy about emailing or cold calling a prospect, this is NOT the role for you)
  • (BDR) Be the face of Skills Matter as the first customer touchpoint. Become a subject matter expert (on-the-job learning) and clearly articulate Skills Matter’s offerings to our customers.
  • (BDR/CSM) Collaborate with Account Executives on account planning/strategy, and route qualified opportunities to them for further development. (Having a team player mentality and ability to get satisfaction to contributing to the larger team)
  • (CSM) Understand and support B2B customer needs and requirements to ensure they realise and benefit from the value of their Skills Matter membership
  • CSM) Onboard new B2B customers to set them up for success and ensure they not only see ROI but also an uplift in skills development of their teams.

  • Ability to work in a small, growing team where change is fast and constant.
  • A “can-do” attitude with a high work ethic.
  • Experience in event management and the tech industry is highly beneficial.
  • Proven ability to maintain a flexible work environment, driven, and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in using tools such as HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Slack and Google Suite highly desirable.

  • This is a full-time role and will commence working remotely which may transition to an office / hybrid role over time. Please only apply if you reside in Sydney and are an Australian citizen or have Australian residency.
