Linuxing in London- December

Wednesday, 20th December at CodeNode, London

This meetup is run by Linuxing In London. Starts at 6:30 PM.

The open source Santa comes to Linuxing In London! Linuxing In London's Xmas jamboree is nearly here, good talks, quizzes, lovely free raffles and swag await. See you there!

Building A Voice-Enabled Security Camera With A Mobile app and a Raspberry Pi

In this session we’ll use deep learning powered services from AWS, to build a security camera with face and object recognition, configurable via a text or voice chatbot interface in a mobile app, using the AWS IoT platform to provide a secure and scalable connection.

Danilo Poccia

Danilo works with startups and companies of any size to support their innovation. In his role as Technical Evangelist at Amazon Web Services, he leverages his 20+ years of experience to help people bringing their ideas to life, focusing on event-driven programming and serverless architectures, and on the technical and business impact of mobile platforms and data analytics.

Containers from Scratch

What are containers? Are they "lightweight virtual machines"?

In this talk we'll see what they really are, and how they are constructed using syscalls to set up namespaces, chroot and cgroups. We'll write one from scratch in a few lines of Go code - and then we'll attack it with a fork bomb!

Open Source Hardware, Deep Learning Frameworks, and the US Government

Check out Andrew Laidlaw's talk about hardware, frameworks and the US Government at this month's Linuxing in London!

Andrew Laidlaw

Andrew Laidlaw is an Open Source and Linux technical specialist working for IBM Systems in the UK. He has experience across a wide range of industries, and has worked with many companies and research organisations across the UK.
