Scrum Event & Helen Lisowski presents: Stone Soup - Storytelling For Better Team Bonding and Collaboration
Productivity is about doing the right work as effectively as possible. The sooner you and your colleagues can all get on to the same page, the sooner you can start work together. The more aligned you are with each other's point of view and your shared objective, the faster you will be able to move towards it. So, is there really a way we can improve these aspects of our working interactions to have a material effect on our productivity?
Helen Lisowski thinks so. Helen thinks we should look to the roots of humanity. Human beings are hard-wired to appreciate stories. Not just about how our weekend was, but actually woven into the very fabric of what makes us human. It's not just authors, film-makers and the theatre businesses that care about stories.
Every single one of us needs to be able to listen to and to tell great stories:
Every leader needs to tell great stories to inspire their staff.
Executives need to use stories to explain and propagate their vision clearly to investors.
Sales people need to be able to pitch a good story about their product.
The call centre staff need to listen and interpret the story the customer is telling them.
These skills are the foundations of influence, of coaching, and of collaborating.
Using a story that is more than 2000 years old I will illustrate how collaboration works, and why the outcome is greater than the individual parts alone.
Helen will also cover how we need to use stories to build our teams and our tribes.
We will talk about:
• Stories we tell about other people
• Stories we share about ourselves
• Stories we create together as a team
We're a Scrum Alliance endorsed User group:
