How Do You Go About Testing In React?
No one wants to ship a broken experience to our precious users. Every frontend developer wants to be confident in newly created, fixed or refactored pieces of the application without relying too much (or ideally at all) on manual testing. But how do we get there?
Testing frontend application is a challenge. If you are building with React, how do you know what tests to write for your components? Do your tests give you confidence in shipping your application to end users? Should you worry about test coverage?
I will talk about different types of tests which React developers can use and their purpose. I will go through examples of various React components and demo different ways of testing them. I will also share the testing experience of my team, the challenges we faced and the solutions we discovered, as well as future improvements we envision.
