React: London Ajax July Meetup

Tuesday, 8th July at Skills Matter, London

This meetup was organised by London HalfStack in July 2014

Would you like to learn how React deals with high stress situations as well as delivering a better user experience? Then join Areeb Malik and Markus Kobler for two in-depth talks on React.js.

Going big with React

On paper, all those JS frameworks look promising: clean implementations, quick code design, flawless execution. But what happens when you stress test Javascript? What happens when you throw 6 megabytes of code at it? In Areeb Malik's talk, we'll investigate how React performs in a high stress situation, and how it has helped our team build safe code on a massive scale.

Areeb Malik

A recent graduated from undergrad from Cornell University, in upstate New York, Areeb Malik entered the industry at Facebook, where for a year now, he has been working on using React in one of the most massive JS applications in existence.

React and the importance isomorphic single page apps

Single page apps are ever more popular at but they are often at the cost of poor SEO and slow load times. Built from the ground up to deliver responsive client and server experiences React.js aims to solve the isomorphic issue facing many rich web apps today. In Markus Kobler's talk we walk through building an app that delivers a better user experience.

Markus Kobler

Markus Kobler has spent the past decade largely focused on complex web apps, with the exception of a year or so working on a banks trading platform. While currently bootstrapping a new startup, Markus has in the past worked with and run a number of Engineering teams at early stage and funded startups in London.
