Meet up

Fun with Generics And Architecture for Rookies

Thursday, 17th September at CodeNode, London

This meetup was organised by LDNUG: London .NET User Group in September 2015

Overview

Fun with Generics

In a series of increasingly extreme ventures to the edge of sanity, he’ll cover some advanced techniques for de-duplicating code, making APIs more expressive, and using the compiler to find more bugs than you would think possible. It’ll be fun.

Architecture for Rookies

The point is to find a way to talk about software architecture with all interested stakeholders (even if they are business/product people who don’t have a clue about the technical side of building software) and understand truly ‘what is happening’ Thanks to communication, instead of having a ‘Strategic Disaster’, we have chance to achieve ‘Strategic Design’.

  1. Change in thinking

a. From monoliths to modules b. Getting rid of dependencies

  1. Tame the terminology
  2. Convince to change: refactoring has the business value too!
  3. Why automated regression tests will work better than any documentation
  4. Conquer the fear: delete unused part of app!
