In this meetup we have three talks: Ruby Book Club by Nadia Odunayo, Documenting Ruby APIs by Tom Kadwill and Integrating React into a Rails application by Edd Sowden.
Hello and welcome to the Ruby Book Club! We’re delighted that you could join us. Today we’re starting with section 4.9 in Avdi Grimm’s ‘Confident Ruby’: Replace “string typing” with classes. As always, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t found time to do the reading. At the Ruby Book Club, we like to make sure that everyone is on the same page.
Nadia co-founded Ignition Works in order to find fun and sustainable ways to build worthwhile software products. She has taught good engineering practices through pair programming at Pivotal Labs and she runs the Ruby Book Club podcast in her spare time.
In this talk Tom will provide a short comparison of the popular API documentation tools available for Ruby. He'll explain how you can use them to generate API documentation for your own projects.
Tom works as a Ruby developer for Babylon Health. He love learning about how to write better Ruby/Rails code.
Looking at how you can start using React within a Rails environment, why you might want to, and what benefits it can unlock. Also looking at how you can make this change to a large project which lots of developers contribute to regularly.
Edd is a developer who's currently working for Deliveroo. Prior to Deliveroo he spent over three years helping to create GOV.UK.
