It's time to push past the buzzwords and into the tech that will render native applications obsolete. James will build a "Progressive Web App" and on the way discover the building blocks required to truly compete with native. A Service Worker will allow users to both create and consume content offline. IndexedDb and the Cache API will ensure the app responds quickly and reliably. Web Push will keep users engaged by providing notifications of hot new content. A Web App Manifest will announce the app's capabilities to the world and help secure a slot on the user's home screen.
After this journey, you will be ready to level up your existing web apps, create new offline-first web apps, and ...eventually... wave goodbye to native.
