Jillian Kowalchuk is the recipient of the Commonwealth Businesswoman Award for Most Inspiring Role Model despite only operating her company, Safe & The City for about 1-year. Jillian is an avid travel having exposure to 50 different countries and grew her experience and passion to help improve the lives of others, specifically with women. She holds an MSc in Public Health and a BA in Psychology and has worked as a global public health consultant in HIV/AIDS behaviour change campaigns and impact evaluation. Jillian’s genuine, passionate approach, unstoppable work ethic and ability to inspires has led to her accelerated success. She is a member of the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) and founding member of FemTechTalks, which regularly meets in London to discuss ways in which women can surmount the challenges they face in entrepreneurship and the technology sector.
Lauren Quigley is an Account Manager on the Business Growth Programme at London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency. In this role, Lauren supports London-based SMEs to scale up with a bespoke programme of business support. Having studied languages at university, Lauren started her career in international trade before moving into international fundraising travelling globally to raise money for over 60 organisations. Lauren moved to London & Partners in 2017 to launch the Business Growth Programme which has helped over 200 companies to date. This year she is also leading a Women Entrepreneur series of events to support the Mayor of London’s #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign.
Sonya Veerasamy brings considerable cross-sector experience to her role at the full service diversity consultancy EW Group, including transport, engineering, recruitment, accountancy and business services. She has worked in a variety of operational, project management, business development and marketing roles, most recently as Head of Marketing at Engie. Sonya works closely with EW Group clients and consultants to ensure that our service is tailored to our client’s specific needs. Sonya is passionate about diversity and inclusion and has been an active board member of Women in Transport since 2013, a not-for-profit that supports the professional development of women working in transport. In 2017, Sonya co-designed and launched Advance for Women in Transport, the first mentoring programme specifically for professional women working in transport. She also volunteers as an Outreach Ambassador supporting junior parkrun events in Greater London to increase participation in areas of deprivation.
Holly is the Business Development Executive within the London team of a global law firm, Morrison & Foerster. Her role revolves around delivering powerful and integrated event and marketing campaigns that create impact and engage with clients. Having worked previously within the Hospitality and Corporate sectors, and currently within the Legal services industry, Holly’s career thus far has provided her with an array of experience in working within various professional environments and cultures. Holly believes that promoting diversity, building inclusive cultures and supporting underrepresented groups is crucial to all professional organisations - not only for business success, but for personal well-being.
