Typeclasses are a core pattern in Scala. Even if you don't know what they are, there's a pretty good chance you've used one, yet there's no typeclass keyword and so the concept can seem elusive. In this talk Phil will explore the process of writing a simple typeclass to show the key elements of their construction and illustrate why they provide a more compelling way of defining common behaviours than traits.
